A symposium on modern archaeological discoveries and Egyptian-German cultural relations for Mansoura University students
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, organized a symposium entitled "The Most Important Modern Archaeological Discoveries and Egyptian-German Cultural Relations" on Sunday, February 26, 2022.
The activities of the symposium come within the framework of the cultural salon organized by Mansoura University, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia Al Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Prof. Dr. Walid El Shennawy, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Swailem El Bassiouni, former Vice President of the University, Prof. Dr. Amr Sarhan, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, deans and vice deans of the university faculties, faculty members, researchers and students.
Professor / Dietrich Rau, Deputy German Ambassador and Professor of Archeology at the University of Leipzig, Germany, and Director of the German Institute of Archeology in Cairo, lectured.
The activities of the symposium included a video presentation of the college that included its various departments and job opportunities that qualify graduates for it, and visits by college students to various exhibitions, museums and archaeological areas, in addition to presenting the products and works of college students, and the most important seminars and conferences organized by the college.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, praised Professor Dietrich's visit to the university, in order to learn about the German people's vision of Egyptian civilization, indicating that he is one of the most important Egyptian archaeologists in the world. He also indicated the importance of the symposium activities, given that Egyptian tourism is an industry, and it must We have to promote it.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, considered this symposium as evidence of the depth of Egyptian-German research cooperation, and invited students, researchers, and those interested in the field of archaeological discoveries to attend a workshop during the month of March, in cooperation with the German side, to discuss various archaeological discoveries.
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Abdallah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Postgraduate Studies and Research, referred to the extension of the Egyptian-German relations for long periods, and described them as distinguished due to the multiplicity of research projects and archaeological discoveries. His Excellency commended Professor Dietrich for his long experience in Egyptian civilization, and praised the importance of the symposium, which contributes to the development of their awareness. and refine their thinking.
Prof. Dr. Amr Sarhan pointed out the interest of the whole world in the ancient Egyptian civilization, and that we all have a responsibility to preserve that ancient Egyptian civilization and antiquities, and that we must study and explain them to the whole world.
Professor Dietrich presented the various archaeological sites that he visited, accompanied by Egyptian scholars and archaeologists, in the various regions of "Giza, Al-Mataria, Dahshur, Fayoum, Kafr El-Sheikh, Aswan, the Delta, the oases, the palaces of Muhammad Ali Pasha and Suleiman Pasha, Salah al-Din Citadel, Al-Moez Street, Bab Zuweila, He also referred to the quality of studying history and watching Egyptian antiquities, describing it as full of treasures and secrets, in addition to the belief of the ancient Egyptians in the idea of resurrection after death and the construction of a complete life after death. These visits were enjoyable, and he expressed his happiness at receiving Egyptian students and researchers at the German Institute for the Exchange of Scientific and Cultural Experiences.
