Mansoura University Organizes Orientation Day for International Students from 56 Different Nationalities
Mansoura University organized an "Orientation Day for International Students" under the theme "Mansoura University... The Heart of the World" on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The event was attended by Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University; Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, along with ambassadors, cultural attaches, and diplomats representing the embassies of China, Pakistan, Palestine, Iraq, Libya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Malaysia, and Sudan. Deans and vice-deans from various colleges, Dr. Al-Mu'tasim Billah Al-Bahravi, Director of the International Students Administration, as well as representatives of Arab, African, and international communities, and Mansoura University’s international students were also present.
The orientation day aligns with Mansoura University's internationalization policy, emphasizing its commitment to attracting students from around the world. The university provides comprehensive support to ensure that international students feel at home in Egypt, viewing them as essential ambassadors of Egypt abroad and contributors to Egypt's educational tourism.
The event opened with the "Heritage Pavilion" exhibition, where students showcased traditional items and folklore unique to each community. The activities continued with a "Pharaonic Show" in the university's main administration hall, followed by the official program in the main conference hall. The ceremony began with the Egyptian national anthem, set amidst an ambiance inspired by ancient Egyptian heritage, and included an AI-based presentation on the successive presidents of Mansoura University since its founding, as well as inspiring success stories of alumni from Mansoura University who are now thriving worldwide, including Dr. Khaled Salam Saeed, Iraq's Minister of Justice; Dr. Thamer Al-Burki, Deputy Consul of Iraq in Cairo; Dr. Omar Ali Bazgafan, Assistant Vice President of Seiyun University in Yemen; and Nibhan Bin Suhail Al-Maqrashi, Imam and preacher at Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Oman, among others.
Dr. Sherif Khater welcomed the attendees, expressing his pride in the international students studying at Mansoura University and reiterating the university’s commitment to opening its doors to them. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance services, facilitate their integration into university life, ensure suitable accommodations in dormitories, and encourage their participation in student activities and unions, allowing them to represent their international peers.
In his address, Dr. Khater highlighted the unique aspects of the university, including its sprawling 300-acre campus and its status as a top destination for more than 15,000 international students from 52 countries, with 18 colleges. He also noted Mansoura’s achievements in global rankings and highlighted the internationally accredited programs, particularly the Manchester Medical Education Program in the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry. Additionally, Mansoura University boasts a highly regarded medical sector, which includes 13 specialized hospitals and medical centers with notable reputations locally and internationally. Its accreditation by the Arab Board for Medical Specialties under the Council of Arab Ministers of Health allows for Arab Board certification across various clinical and medical disciplines.
Dr. Al-Mu'tasim Billah Al-Bahravi, Director of the International Students Administration, delivered a detailed presentation on the university’s support services, which set it apart from other institutions. This includes administrative support and dedicated assistance to address any issues faced by international students, as well as the comprehensive care provided to ensure their well-being. The university fosters the personal development of its international students through diverse social, cultural, scientific, artistic, and athletic activities organized at the International Students Club, with the aim of helping them excel in their academic and social lives. The university also prioritizes healthcare and provides suitable on-campus housing, hoping that students will act as ambassadors for the university in their home countries upon graduation.
The event concluded with a recognition ceremony, where representatives from various Arab, African, and international embassies, as well as distinguished international students and researchers, were honored. The day ended on a high note with a captivating musical performance by the Mansoura University Orchestra, led by Maestro Dr. Amr El-Morsi, featuring Egyptian and Arabic musical pieces and songs that resonated with the audience.
